I am running 2 SATA Hard drives. SO both my IDE channels are open.

I tried the following combination

IDE1 - DVD-R
IDE2 - CD-R

All that happens is both drives refuse to work.

I now have the following setup.

IDE1 MASTER - DVD-R
IDE2 SLAVE - CD-R

Windows detects both drives and says that they are both working
correctly. The DVD drives is working fine. But when I put a cd into
the CD-R drive the computer freezes, and doesnt work until I eject the
CD. The CD-R Drive works fine when its plugged in on its own.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Why do you need both installed? DVD-R drives can burn to CDR too. Try
IDE1 Master DVD-R Slave CD-R
or
IDE1 Master DVD-R
IDE2 Master CD-R<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
