I am in a similar situation. The system boots (with an AMD 2200+) and
a Maxtor 40g hd but I can't load an operation system, neither XP Pro
or 98. Although both are bootable CDs, I get a message that no OS
disk is found.

At one point I did have a problem similar to yours and I changed the
set of power plugs I was using on the hard drive and floppy to the
other set. I have know why this worked but you can try it.

I hope someone has an answer for me.

I assume that neither of you is OCing and both of you have reset
the CMOS with the system unplugged? Also assure that you have
left the CMOS jumper in the correct position.

Had a similar problem. System was up 3 weeks but It would not recognize the
CPU, Upgraded the bios. It still wouldn't recognize it so I set the bias and
multiplier manually. No overclocking. Also there was no sound. The drivers
installed correctly (8 times over a week) then two days ago , no post beep.
I removed the graphics card and modem and still no beep. Reset CMOS (P/S
unplugged) and no beep. The board is dead. The fans all run. I tried the P/S
in my running computer and no beep. I got an RMA number from NewEgg today.
They are a good company to do business with. Good prices and no hassle
RMA's.
I hope you find something but I think your board is just DOA . Hope you can
get a replacement . This board has a great reputation and is great for
OCing.

Ray: If you can't get any post beeps or video, your board is bad. You
aren't even getting past electrical powerup to where the CPU can
contact the board or ram.

Sierra: most likely your problem is configuration. You did not say,
but I assume from your post that you are getting the BIOS post. That
means that the board is good, and is communicating with the memory and
the CPU. List IN STEP BY STEP DETAIL exactly what you did to:
 >Install your harddrive
 >Prepare your harddrive (partition(s), formats, etc.)for use;
 >What file system did you format in?
 >What steps you took to install XP?
To help you we need details.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
