Why do you want a 32 bit Pentium 4 processor? Go for a 64 bit Athlon 64
system instead.

Given what's in it,it's a better price by at least $300 than what local
shops here have quoted to build the same system. It's smartasses like you who
feel the need to be insulting rather than inform who give the groups a bad
name.

Yes well when you're an idiot people will no doubt try and take advantage of you, works the same way
when you're trying to buy a new car.

>It's smartasses like you who feel the need to be insulting rather than inform who give the groups a bad

Better to be a smart ass than a dumb ass like you. And although my post was insulting it actually
was also quite informative, you just got too upset over your own deficiency to notice. Just to help
prove your stupidity further as well as educate you the following is a break down of the parts from
the Dell and what they would cost via www.pricewatch.com

P4 540 3.2
$220

512mb ddr2 memory
$50 ~ $100 depending on quality

160GB SATA hard drive
~$100

SB Audigy 2
Under $50

Radeon X600 SE PCI Express vid card
~$75

Then well factor in a $100 17inch monitor for $100 (does the Dell even come with a monitor?). We'll
also throw in a completely fuckin cool case, probably pick it up from www.coolerguys.com (cause man
do they have fast shipping), we'll include some mods, lighting, the full works, won't cost more than
$150. A REALLY good power supply for around $50. Speakers, Mouse and Keyboard for let's say
another $50. A decent mother board for around $100.

The total for all that is...hrmmm....only $995. o_O

How much was Dell charging again? And you do of course realize that those Dells as well as any box
PC use substandard low grade parts (especially on the memory which is a big no-no).

Heck I'd even upgrade the memory to a gig of Infineon 3200 memory, that'd up the price to $1135.
Then we could also put in a kick ass mother board for an extra $100 (it'll be light years beyond
whatever shit board is in that Dell which probably only cost $29.95). That'd bring the price up to
$1235. Throw in an extra $65 for a decent Radeon all-in-wonder card instead of that X600 SE, that'd
bring the price up to the original Dell cost of $1,300.

There now, do you comprehend how much of an idiot you are? Or do I need to actually go and look up
the specific component list in that Dell and look up those precise components on Price Watch so you
can REALLY feel stupid.

BTW, most reputable computer dealers (such as myself, check the website) only charge between $25 and
$50 (depending on what sort of case modding you want done on it). Oh and BTW, the prices I listed
include shipping charges. ^_^

Not a bad deal, but not great either.
For ~$1070USD you can have an Athlon 2800XP, 160Gb hard drive, Antec
case/PSU, Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard, ATI X800 Pro graphics, 512MB of
PC3200 and an Audigy2 sound card.
Downgrade to a lesser video card and save a few hundred.

DDR2 and PCI-X exist to offer performance benefits in the future, much like
S-ATA. Currently, they offer very little over the technologies they replace.
DDR2 is about twice the cost of PC3200.

Why get an expensive video card then skimp on the cpu? Get at least an
Athlon 64 3000+ . It is only around $80 more than an Athlon XP2800+.
Figure an additional $25 or so extra for the A64 motherboard vs one
for an Athlon XP.

I'm suggesting either they build it themselves, it's not that fucking difficult. Seriously, I think
I could probably train a monkey to put together a computer. You get teh parts off Price Watch, you
come in here and ask questions if you get stuck on something, you save a lot of money, and hey,
great life experience. OR, the other option would be to hire someone like me to build it for you.
Obviously you gotta be kinda careful with that, I would recommend buying the parts yourself and then
just hiring them to assemble it, otherwise you'll most likely get some kind of markup on the price.

Provided said monkey knows the difference between an ATX12V and an EPS12V

Some monkies have enough intelligence to look at the picture of the motherboard and actually count
the number of pins, in the dual Xeon server board case it's 24. Not to mention that most places
specifically tell you what cpu's their PS are for. It's not that hard to figure out. And like I
said, that's what this group is for, it's not for askin about whether some fuckin Dell is a "good
buy" or not. *rolls eyes*
