Complete waste of time with IBM GXP drives. They aint called DeathStars
for nothing. Just copy off the data while you can and bin the drive.

One of the imaging programs like ghost or drive image.

You dont say if you just plan to buy another drive and
use that or if you plan to RMA the drive to Hitachi
who have bought the IBM hard drive operation.

If you plan to just buy a new drive, simplest to put the
new drive in the system that has the failing 60GXP in it
and use ghost or drive image to clone the dying drive.

Gets more tricky if you plan to RMA the drive, because
Hitachi is too stupid to cross ship the replacement. So
you need somewhere to put the image file if using ghost
or drive image. They will both write to a cdrom burner, so
thats one approach buy one of those if you dont have one.

It is possible to write the image file across the network
to another PC drive, but that can be a bit fiddly to setup.
Its quite doable, but you need to know what you are
doing if the network adapter isnt in the standard list
with the imaging program. Not a good idea to fiddle
around for days with a dying drive achieving that.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Oh, and Ghost 2003 writes to DVD drives too.
Most partitions'll fit (compressed) on one or two 4.7 Gig discs.
