Post subject: Dual Monitors and S-video output...help!
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>videocards>nvidia (more info?)

Hi , I have a PNY FX5600 Ultra 128MB card softquadro'd to a Quadro FX 2000.
It has dual monitor support and an s-video output.

I an get only two of my outputs going at a time, two monitors, or a monitor
and a tv set. I want to use my two monitor desktop and preview video to my
television, as well as watch my DVD's and windows media player on my TV. Is
this possible? PNY tech support said it was, but they did nothing to help me
at all. I have gone through every combination of modes I can figure out,
horizontal spanning, regular windows dual monitor support, clone modes, TV
tool, etc.

Is what I am looking to do possible? Has anyone accomplished this and if so,
how?

Thanks,

Videoken

With this tool, you should be able to do it!

If I understand you correctly. You want to have the following:
RGB + RGB or DVI + TV with one FX5600 card?
If above is correct, then no. The nvidia driver will not work this way. You
can only have 2 output. No three output at the same time.

A normal FX5600 or Ultra should have the following -
RGB + DVI + TVout.
Only two out is possible but not three all at once..
Maybe there a third party utilities can do this but I do know one at this
moment to tell you.

If PNY tech say it can, find that particular tech and ask him / her how.
From what I can tell, it should not.

Thanks for replying Cap Fusion, let me tell you exactly what I am trying to
do...

I want to use my dual monitors for editing and preview the video at the same
time on my tv monitor. Or, if I I fire up windows media player I want the
video to play on my TV and still keep my dual monitors going.

So this is not possible as far as you know? Do you have any idea if there is
a card to capture/output analog video? (I want to add this card to my
existing setup, not replace my current card.)

Again, FX5600 will only have two output eventhough it have three port [RGB /
DVI / TV]. The driver or nView Display Modem will only give you options. All
option from the list will give you two output mode in Clone / Dual View / H
or V span mode. Or Standard which only one output.

If you have another VGA card or built-in kind, you may set the "Extend my
desktop...." from Display Properties. Again, depending on your other display
adaptor if it can support multi-display function / feature. You can check if
you have three monitor in Display Properties. Find the other display monitor
for that VGA and locate "Extend my desktop...." and have it check mark. This
way, you will have three montor showing your one desktop. And AGAIN, if you
enable either the third port on the FX5600, one will be disable. You will
not get four going all at once.

Warning -
The more VGA adaptor you have in your PC, your performance will degraded.
