Post subject: Fan Speed Control via software
Archived from groups: alt>comp>hardware>pc-homebuilt (more info?)

Hi,
I almost ready to give up. I've got a setup that allows control of cpu fan
speed. With my mobo's software it is full speed ahead unless, i manually set
it otherwise. How Undynamical!
The other software, a bit better is "speed fan". Almost the same with a few
more options, like reacting to a temperature I set.
The problem here is, not enough dynamics to maximize what could be done ie:
5% fan speed increase to 5 F degrees cpu heat increase etc.
I know it would work, because i can set my fan manually to many settings. Is
there any software out there that does the aforementioned? Any at all? Even
a dll as a system file (like a pc i had with 120mm fan by compaq) without my
interaction.
Thanks ..
I am willing to pay someone who knows about this stuff to make something
work....
The ingredients are there for something decent and there is nothing I can
find.

How fan speed control works - I'm unclear on how fan speed can be controlled by the BIOS, the motherboard, programs like SpeedFan, etc. Hard-wiring in a potentiometer somewhere in the power wires to the fans allows regulation of the voltage to the fan, and so fan speed. But I don't...

Can I control speed of fan on video card? - Hi Folks, I bought an Antec quiet case and a quiet power supply, Athlon64 3200 and MSI K8N Neo MB. The system is really quiet except for my video card - Asus GeForce4 Ti 4200-8x. The fan on the video card is really loud. I can control the CPU and case..
