Kodak DX6490 has 4x megapixel, 10x optical zoom, 3 x digital zoom - movie
mode is quick time though (although I believe there is software that can
convert quick time .mov files to AVI)

I've had one for about a month, it's my first digital so I don't have
anything else to compare it with but I'm very happy with it so far. Just
Google it for a shedload of reviews.

Also worth noting is that Kodak will be releasing a lens adapter for the
camera in early April:

Best price I found in the UK was Comet, who are selling it for £280.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Canon S1 IS
Kodak DX6490
Minolta Z1

Quicktime will convert .mov files to .avi after paying the $29.95US for the
feature enabling password.

Not tried it myself but there's a free prog that also converts .mon to .avi:
