Hi all,
My system with a GA-6VX7-4X motherboard won't boot anymore - shut it down
after having it up and running for a longer period, but now it won't boot.
The system beeps once, seeks a floppy and checks my CD-RW and DVD drives,
and again beeps and seeks.
From other posts on the Internet it seems that I am not the only one
stuck with this problem, but from the answers found, I was unsuccessful
restoring my system:
- I cleared the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery and setting the Clear
CMOS jumper for 10 minutes.
- I downloaded the BIOS file from the Giga-Byte web site, extracted the
archive, and stored the 6VX7-4X.F45 as AMIBOOT.ROM on a floppy.
- Powered down the system, inserted the floppy and turned it on again.
- The system reads the floppy and after a couple of seconds, and then
repeatedly, a small pause followed by 11 beeps.
I have not been able to find any document describing the 11 beeps, and
what it might mean.
Does anyone know what the 11 beeps mean? Is there some way I can revive my
main board?
Any suggestion is very much appreciated.
Jack
