Mark,
The GA-7VTXE should support any AGP 4X compatible graphics cards,
including GeForce3, GeForce4, and ATI 7500~9800 models. The vast
majority of currently shipping AGP 8x cards are backwards compatible
with AGP 4x motherboards. Check the graphics cards specifications to
be sure.
For optimal compatibility, I would advise sticking to mature GPUs that
were current when the VIA KT266A was current vs. the latest high-end
nVidia 'FX' and ATI 9800 models. That still leaves GF4 Ti4200~4800,
GF4 MX440~460, ATI Radeon 8500~9500. In order to significantly
improve on a GF2 Ti/Pro, you would have to go with GF4 Ti4200, Radeon
9500 Pro, or better. A Radeon 9000 just wouldn't offer a huge
improvement.
Regards,
Tim
