Gigabyte GA 8KNXP OC

I have a 2.4 CPU and tried setting it to 2.6 by moving it up to 220 from
the 200
default (200x12)...that set off a loud screech of an alarm and it
crashed. Had to
remove the battery to restore CMOS so it would post. I had set it
before to 210
and that worked okay, so when I was showing off to a friend I set 220,
thinking
it would go. Shouldn't my Intel P4 go at least 2.6 without any
problems? I'd
appreciate some tips for minor over clocking...specific settings in bios
just to
mess around a little. I don't want to change the heatsink and fan just
yet, I just
want to "kick it up a notch" temporarily, just for fun.

Try smaller steps, like 2MHz steps over a period of time...not minutes. It's
one of the reasons i like the 533FSB....more room for overclocking.

I have a Pentium 4 2.53GHz @ 2.95GHz with the FSB @ 155 and DDR310.

And i know i can kick it up to 3.06GHz and DDR320.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
