I have the above board and I'm trying to get RAID working. During the
Windows I choose Intel ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID controller for the F6 drivers.
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=8a4angw&s=1
During the installation I see this:
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=6jd6r2d&s=1
I install the drivers and continue.
It finishes, I install my Nvidia 7xxx seires drivers, and reboot. I
install the Linksys wireless network PCI card drivers and can connect to the
network just fine.
Then I pop in the Gigabyte driver CD, unselect the Yahoo Toolbar and choose
the Xpress setup. I see a Window pop up saying it is installing the RAID
utility to monitor the array and BOOM - Blue screen.
As its rebooting after the standard POST, I see where I can hit CTRL-I and
in red it says error and I can't boot from it.
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=6wr2c76&s=1
I delete the RAID array and recreate it starting from scratch. Thats where
I'm at now.
I won't install the Widows RAID utility/drivers via that Xpress install.
BUT what should I install?
My RAID is a RAID1 mirrored. >> Stay informed about: GA-965P-DQ6 rev 2.0 SATA2 RAID Instability? |

Maybe you could get a more recent matched set of drivers and management
utility from downloadfinder.intel.com ?

Makes sense.
But, which ones do I get? That's another problem, everytime I download a
set of F6 drivers, it gives me ten drivers on that one disk.
Which one do I load? >> Stay informed about: GA-965P-DQ6 rev 2.0 SATA2 RAID Instability? |

First you check your motherboard manual. Chipset includes ICH8R motherboard.
Then you download the ICH8 datasheet from Intel. ICH8R = 82801HR from the
datasheet.
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/14796/eng/f6flpy32.zip
02/23/2007 03:49a 11,352 iaahci.cat
02/12/2007 12:36p 6,467 iaahci.inf
02/23/2007 04:07a 11,254 iastor.cat
02/12/2007 12:36p 6,451 iastor.inf
02/12/2007 01:36p 277,784 iastor.sys
02/26/2007 03:11p 11,321 license.txt
02/12/2007 12:45p 46,535 readme.txt
02/12/2007 12:36p 4,545 txtsetup.oem
The TXTSETUP.OEM has info to help the F6 install. The INF
files also have lines that match the enumeration found
in the chip itself. When you set the chipset mode to
AHCI or RAID in the BIOS, that changes the enumeration
seen inside the chipset. Or something like that.
"The txtsetup.oem File Format"
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms794587.aspx
I don't think you should have to do much else, besides
insert the floppy, and let Windows copy whatever it wants.
For some storage drivers, it goes to the floppy twice
(for two different layers of drivers).

I got XP installed, then when I used the Gigabyte CD to install the BUS
drivers boom... it rebooted and the RAID volume was toast. >> Stay informed about: GA-965P-DQ6 rev 2.0 SATA2 RAID Instability? |

Ok... I'm putting this board on ebay.
Nothign works. I downloaded the inof files for the chipset from Intel's
site, dated September 2007 and during the install it reboots and the RAID
volume is once again corrupted.
I'm buying an Intel board. >> Stay informed about: GA-965P-DQ6 rev 2.0 SATA2 RAID Instability? |
