Have you checked in a BIOS screen ? Things connected to
Southbridge ports, should be visible in the BIOS. And preferably
connected to one of the primary four ports, just in case.
(I.e. One of the group of four next to one another. They
are numbered as ports 0, 1, 4, 5.)
Also, if you want help with your Windows situation, you
should give some background on your current configuration. Like
whether you are currently booted from a SATA drive or are
using an IDE on some other controller etc. There are many
options for setup, and some of them have side effects.
