I have the esata bracket hooked up to the two gigabyte controller sata
ports. In an Antec MX-1 esata enclosure I have a WD 500GB sata2 drive.
Running XP Pro SP2 when I connect drive the computer freezes for 5 seconds
or so with no obvious signs of why. Task Manager shows CPU usage to be
normal, yet every other process is forced to stop during this period (Music
stops playing, cannot move mouse cursor). I am currently running bios
revision F8 and this is a rev2.1 board. Will updating the bios fix anything
as I havent been able to find any log of what has changed with each
revision.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Robert

Other System specs: Q6600 (stock speed), Gigabyte 512MB 8800GTS, 2x2GB DDR2
800Mhz, 550W Antec NeoPower

Another note, the drive functions perfectly after it is connected it is just
the connection that is the problem.

connect before you turn on your system....that way it will detect during the
boot process.
