I've tried everything that I know,Got the latest Via drivers,usb filter,xp
usb driver usb 2.0.
The only usb ports that will work are the two on the mobo. The add-on 4 port
usb 2.0 that came with the mobo wont recognize any installed usb 2.0
hardware or usb 1.1 for that matter.
I'm also using the correct cables.
Spec is:-

GA7VAXP (F13)
1g pc2100
2.4xp Athlon
Nvidia ti4600
Maxtor 80 + 120HDD
DVD
CDRW
xp pro SP1

Has anybody experienced a similar problem?.

I have had the opposit problem. my 4 add on ports work just fine , its the
two onboard ports i am having problems wit. sometimes the two onboard ports
won't recognize any devices plugged into them. Win XP recognizes the ports
just not the devices, if i reboot a few times the devices get recognized.
have had this problem for about 6 months. haven't found a fix yet. any help
would be much appreciated.

I got a GA-8IEXP being RMA'ed for the same problem.The 2 onboard
worked but not the 4 add-on.After several attempts of rebooting the
board finally decided not to boot at all.

I think I've got it sorted.
The four add-ons are usb 1.0 and usb 2.0 respectively.
I rebooted with just the usb 2.0 connected to the mobo and the device was
then recognized.
Reconnected usb 1.0 and rebooted again and all is well.
