Hey.

I thought a DVD+RW drive, specifically the HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N, could
read a DVD-R. Mine doesn't seem to.

Anyone experience this? Running this drive in an HP Pavilion zd7260
notebook.

Chris

yea chris,

i got the same thing. this drive cannot recognize a blank dvd in dvd-r
recording format. when i called HP the guy did not seem to know why. you
have to make sure the disks you use are dvd+r or dvd+rw for recording. i
have been able to play and rip a dvd-r on my zd7000 with no problem. when
it comes to blank dvd-r media, my dvd burner no workie.

I have this same drive, and I can't get it to play DVD+R copied movies. It will rip and burn them no problem. No matter what program I use, it will play the DVD for about 10 minutes and then lock up. If you don't have this problem, please let me know what program you are using. It's driving me crazy.
