At this point it comes down to software bundle, cooling/heatsink
combo, temp monitoring ability, video-in etc. I don't believe that
there is any performance difference between one 5900 and another (they
are the same engine after all). MSI has cool looking copper.

How about real world game performance?
Run demo four in quake 3 (ver 1.32) with both cards and tell me what the FPS
is?

Sarcasm is lame. The point is, it is a good repeatable demo. And the
better a card performs in it will tell you a lot for future opengl games.
The actual number is not important, it is the comparision between the two we
are talking about.

Nope, Quake III is already old hat, any card can perform good on that.
Nowadays OpenGL games begin to use higher quality effects and
visuals...
I guess if you tested it with a current OpenGL game..battlefield 1942
for instance... heavy engine that is!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Which GeForce FX 5900 (non-ultra) is best? |

It's only plating. Anyway, I would stay away from MSI: Poor
perfromance and lots of (mainly software, I presume) problems
especially with their VIVO stuff, and poor support. Check out MSI
forums for all the problems people are having. I have had good
experience w Leadtek in the past, not sure about the current crop.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Which GeForce FX 5900 (non-ultra) is best? |

Bogdan,
Forums are for real problems and folks who rant. Like I said, I
already ordered the card. Don't get my head in a bummer dude. I have
enough problems. Did you take yours back to the store yet?

The large heatsink is copper plated but the card looks great. I hope you have a side window for your box.

Quake 3 arena has been out for several years. You are thinking of Doom3.

Quake III might look nicer as..let say ..counterstrike. But what can I
say about it, both games are considered OLD.
It's pretty easy to see that for testing Quacke III is pretty much
gettings an "gosh I get 94 FPS on my FX5200, lets see how much I get
on my 9800 Pro"<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Which GeForce FX 5900 (non-ultra) is best? |
