Hi,

I am thinking about getting a dual Athlon Gigabyte board and am wondering
what others felt about this board and what memory you should use in it?
Also, does it come with USB 2.0 connections and can the Promise raid
controller be used with ATA 100 hard drives?

Thanks,

RC

Since the AMD 760MPX chipset supports ECC and Registered RAM, you'll want at
least PC2100 ECC Registered. It does not support USB2. You'd need a PCI
controller card ($20). IIRC, you may use the Promise PDC20276 for IDE
devices in a non-RAID configuration.

For the costs involved, you'd do well to look into an Opteron based system
or perhaps even an Athlon64 system come September 2003.

Hi,

Aren't Opteron systems really expensive? And Athlon 64 will be for
uniprocessor systems only, won't it? If I am incorrect please fill me in as
I don't want to put my money into something that will not be as powerful as
I could get. I just thought for price to performance ratio the Athlon MP
systems were the way to go?!

Thanks,

RC
