Looks like this bug is now resulting in a full-blown recall of Intel 915
motherboards:

To be totally fair it seems this is more of a manufacturing defect then a
"bug" ( assuming you define bug as a design flaw that got past QA ).

Yup, it looks like it's actually the ICH6 part, ie the I/O chip or
"Southbridge" using the old terminology, not the memory controller
chip.

As another poster mentioned it was a manufacturing defect rather than
a design bug.
