Unfortunately, the 6800GS is PCI-E exclusively at this time, as far as I
know.
I've had good service from my AGP 6800GT for about 16 months, so I wonder
what the problem was with yours. I'd have recommended getting a replacement
for the 6800GT, but I suppose that your problems may have soured you on the
card.
On the ATI side, the X800 family offers performance comparable to the 6800
series. There are models with 8, 12, or 16 pixel pipelines, at various
prices.
