I'll try and explain . . .

saw a HD forensic item on the news - not fussed about the forensics but

the hd plugs into a base like a home cordless phone base - drive was sata -
standing vertical

then looked like one of those bays for the front of a pc - sata cable from
it to the pc and a power lead
from the bay as well

looked like a good quick way to read a spare drive

anybody know about this type of thing ?

anxious about the plug in "stand" really

thanks

p.s. just thinking - the conection side of the drive was facing top so i
guess
the base really was just a way of holding the drive

Any eSATA port on the PC can do that, what you are talking about is
really just a way to hold the drive vertically and thats just cosmetic.

There's plenty of those on ebay. Not bases so much
as cables with a connector on the end that plugs into
the drive with the drive loose on the desktop.
