I haven't seen a benchmark that compares the new HD series with the X
series. I have an X1950XT. Is the 3879 faster than it?

re: this new card is so much quieter Its about time! I have just returned an HD2900XT that is faulty. Now I don't know what to do, I have seen benchmarks where the 3870 is about equal in performance to the 2900, so, one of those or wait for this new fangled dual core GPU? I got the 3850 and it is quieter then any fan driven card I ever owned.
