Hello there,

Some questions regarding HDD's on 8KHA+:

-Can I use a HDD of 200 GB on ATA100? I think I have read somewhere that
the capacity of HDD on ATA100 is limited to X Gb?

-Can I use my ordinary ATA-drives on future SATA-Mb's, or are they
completely incompatible? What are the restrains if I use my ATA-drives on a
SATA-Mb?

-Can I connect a SATA-drive on my 8KHA+, using all of the SATA-features
including SATA150-speed? How do I do that?

I hope someone can answer my questions...

Thank You in advance,

Francis Arteel,

Belgium

I've got a WD 200gb ATA100 drive and it works fine. I'm not aware of any
size limitation on ATA100 (or 33/66/133/150 etc...).

As far as i'm aware the answer yes, provided the board has ATA as well as
SATA support. I don't think it's possible to connect an ATA drive to a SATA
controller due to the interfaces being different.
Someone may know different tho...

I'd say yes (as the board supports SATA drives). You will need a SATA drive
tho (see answer to previous question).
As to how you enable the SATA-150, I imagine the controller will detect the
access method and set itself accordingly.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

The EP-8KHA+ does not have a SATA controller. THerefore you would need
a Serial ATA controller card to use SATA drives. Future boards will
most likely continue to have standard IDE controllers for IDE drives.

Visit the EPoX store: EPoXStore.com stocks all those hard to find
motherboard accessories... BIOS chips, heatsinks, cables, and much
more! Also find wireless and bluetooth products.
