Post subject: HP camera card reader

I bought an HP multi card reader but it chokes on any of my higher
capacity XD cards. 512m and higher. Anyone know of a workaround?

Return it for a different brand? I have a Lexar brand multi card
reader that works fine with 512MB xD card. I got it at Walmart.

My personal opinion is to never take the card out of the camera unless you
have to. Plug the camera directly into the computer and transfer the
pictures and avoid many problems that can occur. I have damaged cards from
removing them. I have so many different readers and printers with readers
and cameras and have found it is much safer to not even use the readers. I
have a USB cable ready to attach while the camera is off. I turn on the
camera and it is detected. Large mem cards are cheap now which makes
removing them obsolete. 10 years of digital cameras and mem cards and
readers has taught me a good lesson.
