Post subject: Help: GA-K8N Pro Memory Issue
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>giga-byte (more info?)

I purchased the GA-K8N Pro with two sticks of 400 MHz Ram and at first was
unable to boot. So I disconnected everything, removed the board and tried
again. I then was able to boot but when I tried to install the OS, both XP
and 2K and continuously rec'd a memory dump error. I had 3 other sticks of
DDR 333MHz ram so I tried these all together at first and rec'd continous
beeps. I then tried one at a time and was able to finally get one of the
256s to load XP but to my dismay was unable to find out what type of RAM
should I have purchased on the Giga-byte website. Any suggestions would be
appreciated as 256MB of RAM is ok but will not suffice for long.

Regards

Sam

i have a k8t800 pro via not nforce3 but
i am using 2 samsung 333ddr ram in slots
1 and 2, and all is o.k.
it's not just the motherboard that may have
problems with the ram it is also the amd64 cpu
if u go to amd they have a list of memory that
is o.k for the cpu (brand ddr400).
samsung (original) is o.k and a few others.
toms hardware has sumthin on the board and memory
they used plus sum other sites if u do a search
on google eye know this as i have searched to sea if
kingmax super ddr3500 is going to be o.k
for my board, the 3200 is meant to be o.k as sumsite has said
for the via and nforce3 chipsets as is corsair and crucial.
try only putting 1 module in slot1 first of all, if ddr400(3200).
then if that works put another in slot3 thats what my manual says.
good luck.
