I have a GA-P35-DS3R motherboard and I have a Seagate ST3250410 250G
hard drive installed. This works fine and shows up in my safe to remove
hardware just fine. I just bought a similar hard drive, a ST3320620AS
320G hard drive and installed an external e-SATA enclosure. Both drives
support hot swap, but for some reason my external drive does not show up
in the safe to remove hardware icon. Does anyone know why?

They are on different controllers. The 250G drive is on the Gigabyte
SATA controller while the 320G drive is on the Intel controller.

Z.K.

Not all sata drives are shown in 'safe to remove' it depends to some extent
on the controller and or their drivers

I believe the drives need to be plugged into the gigabyte sata controller to
be recognised as esata, otherwiase that are simple seen as a sata drive that
happens to be outside of the case.

You have to configure the Intel SATA interface as AHCI in the bios,
and install the Intel Windows driver.
