thought I'd take the plunge today and have a go with the new 2.0 bios for my
IC7-G, I'm on 1.9 at the mo. Rand Flashmenu and it said my bios is up to
date, has the 2.0 been withdrawn?

2.0 bios for IC7 is still on the Abit site under Flashmenu so it has not
been withdrawn. However, the Abit web sites and their FTP site under the
regular IC7 folder (as opposed to the Flashmenu folder) still do not have
any 2.0 update file or release notes for 2.0.

sort of perplexing, eh? they release a bios but it does not propagate
throughout their system and there are no release notes for the bios even a
week or so after the release...

I am running it currently with no issues except for the fact that once
again, as it did with 1.9, my onboard LAN menu options went away until I
cleared the CMOS with the jumper...

one other suggestion... if you have not already done so, make sure you
update Flashmenu to 1.32. That is the version I used for flashing and it
worked fine. I also have the bios file on my server under IC7-G

If you still cannot get 2.0 and want it, try the bin file at

Remember the BIOS update rule to minimise wailing, lamenting, rending
of clothes and ashes on head:-

Never update a BIOS unless it addresses your specific problem(s).
Corollary:- No release notes, no update.

To date, nobody has seen the release notes for IC7 V2.0, and the
formal BIOS listing on the Abit sites remains firmly at 1.9.

all of John's points ring true. however, just pointing out that there is at
least one live being (izzat you, Homie?) out here with 2.0 on an IC7-G with
no problems as a result.

LOL! sheep powered hard drives... kinda hard to keep them running at 7200
RPM, too! however, all I gotta do is threaten them with Homie or my Johnson
and they run like hell!

Hi Tom -

Alex at Abit just posted the following today at the Abit-USA forum:

http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/bios/ic7.php

IC7 / IC7-G: 2.0

1. Update Intel on screen branding (OSB) logo.
2. Update BBS code. This will fix some boot sequence issue with some SCSI
card.
3. Fixed the problem that the system cannot boot into Windows if
1)The OS is installed in the SATA hard disk when both the SATA and PATA hard
disk are present.
2)The PATA hard disk is removed after the OS installation.
4. Update CPU Micro Code.
5. BIOS compile date: 12/31/2003

Well I've had something strange happen with 2.0. Installed it yesterday, did
a 'clear cmos' straight away, then reset all my bios settings, all running
fine. However, every night this machine gets shut down and the power turned
off at the mains socket. This morning, came into the room, turned on the
power socket and the machine started on it's own!

I know what you're going to say, the bios setting for power off with the 3
settings, off/on/last state. I have that set to last state which in this
case was shutdown. Also I think that setting normally only applies to if the
power goes off while the machine is up & running. Flaw or feature? Saved me
having to press the power button! Surprised)

exactly, that is the setting that would control this but no, it is *not*
only in the event of a power failure. I use that same setting to auto-power
on every day only I have it set to "ON" as opposed to Last State so that
when I turn on the AC power to the system, it will auto boot every time.

it is possible the "last state" setting has some odd behaviors, I guess...
