I have a Mac's IDE HD that crashed, went through data recovery, and
most data was already squeezed out of it.
Since it's not at all given that the HD itself was to blame, I have
the option to reformat it and do an extended burn-in test for possible
re-use.
However, I'd like to take a recreational/experimental stab at data
recovery in HFS+ under some kind of *nix. I can mount it in Debian
GNU/Linux (testing, 2.4.26 kernel) I can just see the names of
partitions inside the HFS+ volume, but can't dig any further.
Are there any tools I might try that come with any of the OS or free
download Unices for i386? I am willing to try really adventurous
deep-alpha grade software.
Thanks,
