I've got a new IS7 mothrboard and it will not post. 5VSB led comes on, but
the moment I press power, the VCC light flickers on, fans come on, then it
all goes dead.

2.8 p4 HT
1gb DDR400
120mb wd hard driver
300 watt power supply
ATI Radeon 9600

I thought, maybe insufficient power, but I unplugged everything but the
motherboard and power supply and still the same. Checked all case
connectors and looks ok. don't think it's a grounding problem.

do you have both the main ATX power and the AUX ATX (4-pin) connector hooked
up? that power supply is still suspect in my opinion...

Yes, I do. I put my old motherboard back in and it works just fine. It's
an older 1.8 p4. Strange thing about this board is that it didn't have the
AUX ATX connetor, but did work. I'm taking the new board back, swapping it
and buying a new power supply anyway. 300 watts isn't enough, but should
have been able to power it, especially with no drives attached just to post.
I read a lot of post's on the IS7 and this boad seems to be prone to this
type of failure.

Don't you think that's a little harsh without even knowing any background.
I'm an IT manager for a fortune 500 company. I know how to build a computer
better than most. The motherboard was bad. I'm not the only one to have
this problem either. You can read many post about it on ABIT's own web
site. The ATX connector is bad on it. Also, I said IS7, not IS7-E. It is
a different motherboard based on the same chipset. Bought an ASUS instead
and it came up immediately when I plugged it in. Glad you had good luck,
but others haven't. Don't judge people as dickheads without knowing
background. nuff said.
