Post subject: Improve CanonG3 remote control?
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>dcameras (more info?)

I have recently puchased a Canon G3, which exceeds my expectations and
ability (at the moment).
There is however one area which I would like to improve. The remote control
operates over a very limited distance, and I would like to set the camera
up and take pictures from a distance. e.g. of my bird table.
Is there any device that I could use to do this, the included remote
control only operates from a couple of metres.
TIA

John,

I had success with my remote to 30 feet(9m?). Just be sure the IR lens on
the camera is in clear view. And a good new or strong battery is in the
remote.

My conditions were outdoor with family, taking portraits while being in
them. Worked fine, except, remember to set the delay or else the hand with
the remote will be visible Smile

I know of no alternative to the Canon remote supplied with the camera,
Sorry.

Brian

Radio shack has a remote control extender that will do a great deal to
increase the range of any remote control. I am sorry I don't have a link but
I do have the device that even has an additional external antenna that can
be purchased which I di also buy for only a few extra dollars. Works through
walls and allows me to change chanels of TV in other room on farside of
house. Cat.no. 15-1959R(Receiver) Cat. no. 15-1959T(Transmitter) IR
Repeater,Optional part number RSU 11113917

Post back to let everyone know if this works for you.
