Installed the Realtek NIC on my FIC 503+. At first win98SE would not load.
Thought maybe it was due to IRQ assignment. It looked as if many devices
were assigned to 03. Changed the BIOs and it picked up the NIC from 03 to
10 and the video from 03 to 09.

Now when I attempt to boot win98SE, it takes minutes, not seconds to load.

I have not tried the cable modem with the NIC yet because I want to try and
solve this slow boot problem first.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Um your tcp/ip stack is looking for a dhcp server so it can get an IP
assigned, just a guess.

Is your NIC connected to anything? Hook it up to the cablemodem, the
sooner it gets an IP assigned (the cablemodem acts as a dhcp server)
the faster the boot, perhaps.
