I've just started having problems with intermittent start-ups. The pc
powers up but will hang until you cycle the reset or power several
times. Then it boots normally. I've noticed several posts concerning
this problem. My system is approx. 2 yrs old and has the latest bios
2BA5 installed. The most recent change has been the addition of a
256MB DDR dimm to the already installed 128 one. The new memory is
Viking (so I thought I'd be fairly safe). Like I said though, it will
recognize and boot normally (after several attempts).

I also read in a posting that these boards are notorious for the
battery going dead. Anyone know if that would cause these boot
problems? Please advise.

check the capacitors on the motherboard for leaks, can cause the same
problem as you describe
