Hi all,

I've been doing a ton of searching on this but I'm not really clear on this.
I would like to replace my 2 ide ibm gxp 60 drives ( before they die
again!), with 2 seagate 80 gig sata drives.

I'm not interested in the mirroring, but the striped raid would be ok. After
having the IBM drives fail on my old dragon+, I'm not sure it would be worth
the problems.

From what I've read I beleave that you can set up single disk arrays with
this MB. If it's possible, I would like to be able to use the sata raid
portion set up as 2 single disk arrays to simply function as 2 standard
drives at the sata speed.

I do use my setup for some video editing and dvd burning, the next most
taxing thing would be online gaming (just picked up FFXI Smile). Any thoughts
on this would be greatly appreciated. I've listed my setup below if it will
help.
Thanks,
Troy

No, you cannot do such a thing. A raid requires at minimum two drives. Even
if you could do that, there would be no gain at all from it. It would be an
entirely pointless endeavor.

Eric you are wrong you can use the Promise FastTrak 376 RAID
controller to use single SATA drives. I've done it myself. Someone who
has just one SATA or does not want RAID funtionality may want to do
this.

Simply assign an array using a single drive (in striping mode).

Hope this helps.
