Hi Group

I have a K7S5A board with a Athlon 1600+ CPU which has always worked like a
charm.

But recently I got a AGP MSI GeForce 4 with video-in capture feature. The
Video-out and the GeForce part works perfectly but the board reboots
whenever I try to capture anything from the video-in. XP reports "...
recovered from a serious fault..." after reboot.

Anyone heard of this?

I have searched almost every help-site and even asked MSI. They send me to
correct drivers... No problems in Device Manager - but still.... The
pre-view works - but reboots on actual capture.

Then I read somewhere that MSI warns about operation if the 3.3 V part of
the PSU/motherboard isn't ok. I tried Motherboard Monitor and surprisingly
read 3.10-3.12 V on the 3.3 V line. All other lines are fine.

Can this be the reason? How do I fix this - is the error in the motherboard
or do I just buy a new PSU? What shall I look for in a PSU - is more total
effect enough?

Thank you,

Kenneth

Try with a stronger CPU: >= 400W with a good output on 3.3 V rail
