I'm having a major problem installing a modem on my new MSI K8N Neo 2
Platinum. I have an ATI TV Wonder card also which did not seem to work.
I've removed the TV card leaving the new US Robotics modem as the only PCI
card I have installed at this time. The modem is the most important thing
to me right now because I have to use someone else's computer to research
this problem which is a real pain! I've tried removing any reference to a
modem, removed the modem card, rebooted, then re-installed the modem on a
different PCI slot several times. At first it was using COM 1 but when I
would query the Modem it couldn't detect it. After trying to solve that
problem all I get now is a message in Device Manager that says...
This device can not find enough free resources that it can use (Code 12).
The modem won't allow me to change the resources that it uses. I disabled
the onboard serial port in the BIOS which was also COM 1 but that didn't
help. The only thing in Device Manager with an exclamation point is
something called "Docking Station" I don't know what that is. Some of it's
resources were conflicting with the modem so I disabled it in Device
Manager. That didn't help either. Often when I disable or try to uninstall
a piece of hardware in the Device Manager the system will reboot without
notice. I've tried many things and searched all over the net for a solution
with no luck. Do I need to set up some kind of a COM port for the modem to
use? Is a PCI thing? I'm at the end of my rope pleeeezzze help me before
I go insane!
