Put the raptors on the VIA and use the Promise for storage. The VIA
can be problematic when using only one drive and anyway it's faster
than the Promise. The Promise BIOS has an option to setup as normal
SATA instead of raid.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I have only one drive on my Via SATA and haven't had the slightest hint of a
problem.
