Has anyone installed XP 64bit beta on K8V based system? Is there driver
support for this board? Is it stable? Do games run?

Hey Craig, yep 64bit will run just fine on a K8V system. Go to
http://www.planetamd64.com/
and
http://www.viaarena.com
and
http://www.nvidia.com (if your running a nvidia vid card)
to get drivers for it. I havent played with it a whole bunch so I cant say
about stablity. As for games... well your probaly not going to want to use it
for those.

Nvidia just released a new driver for the system so it may work ok but if your
running an ATI card you may be out of luck, I've heard the ATI drivers that
came with XP64 seriously suck.

Also your spound may be an issue. You can get drivers to run the onboard sound
for the K8V, but I"ve personaly run in to issues with trying to get the 5.1
sound going.

I would seriously recomend that if you do want to check it out, you do a dual
boot (partion your drive or use a seperate drive all together) when you set it
up. One of the more serious problems I've run in to is support for Anti-Virus
in this OS. I dont have access to Norton 2004 so I cant say if it'll run but i
know 2003 doesnt, nor does the current verson of AVG (free Anti-Virus). For
that reason alone I dont run it as my primary OS.

Hope this helped.

Arie
