Hi all,
I've mainboard FIC KA-6110 with CPU Celeron 300 without cache and SDRAM
PC133.
Does anybody can help me with overclock CPU on this board?
Max overclock i've to succesed is CPU ~402MHz with FSB ~115MHz, MB power up,
but system don't boot up from HDD, later MB doasn't boot up without change
FSB to 66MHz.
CPU ~392MHz FSB ~112MHz, system boots up from HDD, but freeze in next
10seconds, and finally that same thing MB doasn't boot up without change FSB
to 66MHz.
CPU ~381MHz FSB ~109MHz , everything boot up preety, Windows 2000 Prof,
works without any problems, CPU temp ~40C, BUT! after soft reset MB doasn't
boot up without change FSB to 66MHz.
What can thats mean???
Defaults setting for this CPU is multipler x4.5 and FSB 66MHz , ~300MHz
I want to change multipler to higher! It is possible to change multipler
with FSB at 66MHz?
I know that at FSB 66MHz multipler is autoselected by BIOS, can i ommit
this?
And last thing, can i change CPU vore voltage? If yes HOW? Nowere i saw any
info about this, and on MB PCB isn't any infos about this. It is possible?
PS.
I've old Celeron 300MHz on Slot1 without adapter, with 3 coolers, and his
temp is ~34C with defaults settings, mean 300MHz at FSB 66MHz.
Does anybody can help me?
Regards

Hello, Krzysztof.
As far as I know, Intel has locked the multipliers in all their CPUs since the
time of the Pentium II (though not the first Pentium II). Unfortunately, the
Celeron 300 falls into this category. I looked at the manual for the KA-6110,
and I could not find any way in there to change the voltages, either.
The results you have sound fairly typical for someone who is having trouble
overclocking. Do you know how fast your RAM can go? It could be that your RAM
is holding you back. In the BIOS, I see several options related to RAM and
overclocking. The two most important ones are these:
SDRAM Clock Selection
CPU Host/PCI Clock
It sounds like you are using "CPU Host/PCI Clock", but what about "SDRAM Clock
Selection"? Try setting "SDRAM Clock Selection" to 66. If the RAM is causing
the problem, this might slow it down enough to let it work.

Oops, I just saw that you are using PC133 RAM. If "SDRAM Clock Selection" works OK
at 66, try setting it to 100 and see how what works.

Hi Alex,
I sets FSB to 105MHz (FSB ~105/ PCI ~33) now it works ok, but some times mb
doasn't not up.
I've SDRAM sets up to 133MHz.
When i set FSB to 105MHz, multiplier to x4.0 mb power up, and runs at CPU
~420MHz (PCI ~35MHz), but with only graphic card (S3Trio 3D/2X on AGP x2),
no HDD, no FDD, and no PCI or ISA cards. When plug in NIC card (PCI Realtek
8139 100/10), mb starts once per 10 times.
with sound and HDD mb doasn't up never.
Now at CPU 366MHz its up once per 4 times, and this is not enought for me
;-(
I have Celeron 300 (not A or B version), i think that he doasn't have
blocked multiplier.
I'll try to set it to 66MHz, and we will see.
Thanx!

Krzysztof,
From what you say, it sounds like it makes a difference when you have certain
PCI cards installed. Another setting you may play around with is "Auto Detect
DIMM/PCI Clock". What this setting does is to decide whether or not to send
power to empty PCI slots and empty DIMM slots. If "Enabled", it will not send
power to empty slots. If "Disabled", it does send power to empty slots. The
default is "Enabled".
Play around with this setting to see if it makes a difference.
