Hello,

We have to keep our machines locked up as our boy tends to like to push
buttons and play with the CD-ROMs. As such the power button is locked up and
it's a hassle to unlock it, push it, lock it. I've been using keyboard
power-up now for quite some time with a PS/2 keyboard but am looking for a
new keyboard and wanted to know if I could still do the keyboard powerup
using a USB Keyboard on an 8KNXP. My current board doesn't support it but
it's a couple years old. I'm running XP Pro if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Lance

Yes...there is an option in the BIOS for this, power on by USB keyboard.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thanks Richard,

I saw the "USB Keyboard" in the bios but wasn't sure if that was what it was
for. Thanks for the info.

Also note, you must also enable this device to bring to computer out of
stand-by.
To do this, assuming you have Windows XP, right click on My Computer and
then click on the Hardware tab.

From here click on Device Manager and then from the list expand the Keyboard
tab, right click and click on properties.

Then click on the Power Management tab and ensure the option to bring the
computer out of stand-by is ticked accordingly.

But most likely it will be tick when you enable the keyboard power on option
in the BIOS.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
