Hi There,
I used to have a USB keyboard (pure USB, not one with a PS2 connector as
well).
One of my kids decided to spill coffee all over it, so I bought a keyboard
with a PS2/USB connector on it and have had all sorts of problems with it.
Basically, it is double keying, which makes gaming impossible - I press the
forward key, it jolts forward, stops then carry's on. Also, when gaming it
won't work holding two keys at once.
I am using it on it's USB adaptor, btw, and not as a PS2 keyboard - it's not
working at all on it's PS2 connector.
Any help/ideas much appreciated.

If you're really unlucky uou can damage the keyboard gadgetry onthe
motherboard with liquid spills... but I don't think that would produce
double keying.

Does it do it on all keys?

Sounds like a strange problem if it doesn;t work on ps2 or usb. That kind
of rules out a driver issue.

What happens if you go into the bios? Do the same keys double-key there?
If so, then it's a hardware problem, try that keyboard in another machine if
possible to try and rule out the keyboard.
If it doesn't double-key in the bios, then try this:
Boot into safe mode, then go to device manager and remove the device drivers
relating to keyboard and reboot. You might try removing all your USB device
drivers as well.
Let us know if it works after it has re-detected the hardware and you've
rebooted again.

Two things...
Remove the keyboard in device manager and reboot. Then
install your new keyboard. Check the settings on the
control panel and in device manager. If the problem
persists, take the new keyboard back and buy a good one.
When you spill coffee or soda-pop on a keyboard, you have
nothing to lose by unplugging the keyboard and using
distilled water to wash the sugars out and let it air dry
several days. You can speed the drying up with a hair dryer
on low heat.

a user came to me and grimly admitted:
"I spilled a whole Dr. Pepper in my keyboard yesterday and now it doesn't
work".
It looked bad.
So I held it under warm water for ~ 3 minutes then blew it out with
compressed air, wiped it down and left it on wall heater vent to dry
overnight.
Plugged in the next day it was fine.
It's still in service after several months.....
The "double keying" is because you didn't hold it under the water long
enough too get the gunk out. Warm - Hot water works better... Yes, they
spilled stuff in the new one too...
