I have just built a new computer using many standard makers like ASUS and HP
with a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo. I am having the weirdest
and most aggravating problem.
When ever I hit keys on my keyboard (especially certain keys like the
up/down arrows, or the scroll wheel) the sounds from my sound card get
interrupted (very hard on my MP3 library). There are no IRQ conflicts, I
have made adjustments to the keyboard delay in Control panel, I have swapped
out the keyboard and mouse for standard ones and i have even swapped the
sound card but still nothing.
What could possibly be going wrong???? >> Stay informed about: Keyboard problem (interferes with computer sound)??? |

What motherboard/chipset is it?
What Sound Card? And I take it the different sound card had the same
problem?
When you changed the keyboard, was it wired? Are they PS2 or USB?
What OS?

Thats a pretty strange one. I wouldn't expect an IRQ conflict with the
keyboard.
Does the sound skip every time you press a key?
I very much doubt it's a problem with the keyboard or PS2 port, you seem to
have ruled out the sound card istself.
I can't really think of what could be the problem... I'd be tempted to make
sure I had the latest chipset and sound drivers installed, othe rthen that I
might remove all the drives and let it redetect.

here's a few things that you might want to check...
IRQ Routing (my VIA MVP3 chipset has a problem that requires me to install a
driver for that, after a fresh windows installation, before certain devices
will work properly)
PCI Latency (my Creative SBLive! card does pretty much a similar thing until
I install a driver for that... i can usually find it on a search for
"GREESE")
ummm... do a general search involving sound and your chipset...
(and keep us updated...)

Hi all I am new to this whole forum idea, but I am having the same problem and need help.
Motherboard:
asus a7v8x-x
chipset:
AMD ATHLON XP 2400+ 2.0GHZ 333 FSB 45W MOBILE OEM
ram:
1024 GB ddr 400 MHz
sound card:
integrated
video:
ati radeon 9200 128 MB agp
hard drives:
20GB for windows
run programs off of a 60GB
and store data on a 40GB
1 dvd rom cd writer.
all new cables
400 Watt power supply ( changed from a 300 watt but it made no difference)
optical usb mouse
when I scroll it makes a sound
jsut realized that it does make sound every time I hit a key...no make that every time a character is put on the screen.
actually it seems to make a sound every time the screen changes, and there is a constant background noise as if the refresh rate of the screen is also causing problems. it seems as if somehow the sound card and video card are interfering with eachother.
when I deselect text the sound is greater but when I select text, the sound is only the sound of the mouse scrolling.
cheap regular keyboard
Could a bios update help this problem?
the only reason I dug so deep into this problem is because of a problem with GTA vice city I began having. it is extremely laggy. plays perfect for about 3 seconds, then 1/2 to 2 seconds of frozen time, then back to perfect, then frozen. i thought at first maybe my hard drive was compressed...but that isn't it. I've tried disabling the sound card, that's not it. I've downloaded new drivers for video card. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
NEVERMIND !!!!!!
For anyone who reads this...the way I fixed my problem was to put my paging file and the game installation on the windows hard drive. the game had been on a hard drive, the paging file on another, and windows on yet another hard drive. >> Stay informed about: Keyboard problem (interferes with computer sound)??? |
