Hi,
I just got a Logitech Deluxe Access Keyboard, and immediately stumbled
upon the stupid F-Lock problem. It seems now solved thanks to Ben Pope's
registry fix.
I found on Google Groups a message by someone who wrote that his F-Lock
LED remained on even after rebooting (Message-ID:
<b5hpjl$28h85p$1@ID-120468.news.dfncis.de>)... was it true?

Anyway another problem remained: it seems like some times, when starting
to type, there is a short delay before the characters appear on screen.
After this initial delay, everything is ok. It surely happens soon after
booting, but also in other occasions; I still didn't spot a pattern.
Does anyone else experience this problem?

I'm using Windows XP Pro.

Didn't find that message using a rather crude search on google groups, but I
think I recall it... I asked for confirmation and got none. It appeared to
be an option in the Logitech iTouch software that I couldn't find.

No idea. Does it queue the keys you press or drop them?

Maybe I should just try contacting the author... if I can guess his real
address from the fake one. Smile

They are queued. Everything I type appears on screen, but the first chars
are delayed, and this happens only sometimes.
This can also happen with a single keypress, e.g. when I boot up the PC,
launch the mail client with a click and then press F2 to download new
mail.

"It'll remember it until you change it", or reset the keyboard, such as at
startup, I suspect.

Very strange. I suspect this is related to your OS rather then your
keyboard, since AFAIK the keyboard buffer is purely a software thing.

No, if you read his previous message in the thread he wrote:
"Set it to "Standard f-keys" and it will remember that setting, even when
you reboot."

Indeed it sounds strange, but it started exactly after connecting the new
keyboard. I'll try with the old one again to be sure.
Thanks.

Yes, sorry, the delay also happens with the old keyboard. And it doesn't
happen with the new keyboard on other operating systems on the same
machine. Now I should find out why my XP started behaving like that,
sigh... anyway that's bearable.

BTW, for those who need the classic F-keys by default but still want to
use the iTouch software for the other special keys, there's another
solution: use iTouch to assign standard F-key pressures to the special
F-key functions. You lose the special F-key functions, but I suppose you
can live without them. Wink

Gets you a bit closer, I guess.

I noticed that too. Not sure why they don't just implement a bloody swap
function, would be a piece of cake for them. Maybe the latest version has
it, I don't know, but I don't like having that type of software loaded
anyway.

One day I'll get round to writing the mother of all filter drivers for
mouse/keyboard. That will solve these problems and many more.
