I have a FIC FA15T with a Celeron 1.2gig processor and 512mb ram. I seens to
have started losing time to the tune of 11 minutes per day. About a month
ago a put a ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 pro video card in it. I am wondering if
it could be cause a problem somehow. The computer runs 24 X 7 so I don't
think the battery is a factor, or an I wrong. Does the battery need to be
good to keep the time when the computer is running?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I would probably try a new battery, though like you, I do not know if that is
really the problem. Since a replacement battery is pretty cheap, though, it
would not be a huge loss if that is not the problem.

Until you find the root of the problem, you may consider running an NTP-based
time sync utility to keep your computer somewhere in the ballpark of the correct
time. Windows XP has one built in (double-click on the clock at the bottom
corner of the screen), but if you have an older version of Windows, I would
suggest NetTime:

I am running the net time /set command every 30 minutes to correct it. I did
check that it does not lose time when shut off so it's not the hardware.
It's windows xp somehow.

If it loses time only in Windows XP, then I would guess that some program or
power management setting is causing the problem.

Since you run "net time /set" to synchronize your clock, it sounds like your
computer is on a network. Is the network set up as a workgroup or as a domain?
Do you have a domain server or a time server on that network? If you go to
Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Event Viewer --> System, do you see
any warning or error messages pertaining to "W32Time" or "Windows Time" on the
right-hand side?
