Hi all
Having a major headache trying to install Win 98SE with this mobo but
had no luck installing the drivers for PCI audio device, ethernet, USB
etc so gave up and tried installing WinME but this gave the same
problems.
Having had a damn good look round the net the last 5 days it seems
EVERY PC forum has its fair share of people with this very same prob!
I cant get my head round it- the only version it works with is WinXP.
I even tried extacting the drivers folder from XP to ME so it could
find the drivers from there but no good!

My question is :- Is it something to do with "USBdriver version 2:00"
co-written with Silicon Intigrated Systems (AOpens chipset)
and OrangeWare putting some sort of watermark in their program. Am I
stuck with this or would a mobo with an Intel chipset give the same
results???

Any ideas would be great as Im out of em!

TIA

Marc

The ME and XP drivers are almost always different between the 2 operating
systems, so that won't work. I have found that AOpen's site (and most other
board manufacturers) have outdated drivers on them anyway. I recommend
getting the drivers from the chip manufacturers. In your case:

Audio:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="ftp://152.104.125.40/pc/ac97/alc650/wdm_a349.exe" target="_blank">ftp://152.104.125.40/pc/ac97/alc650/wdm_a349.exe</a>

Media Player:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="ftp://152.104.125.40/pc/ac97/alc650/ap_a349.exe" target="_blank">ftp://152.104.125.40/pc/ac97/alc650/ap_a349.exe</a>

Graphics, LAN, USB:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.download.sis.com" target="_blank">www.download.sis.com</a>

You have to go there and select your chipset and OS.

Good luck
