Post subject: Mechanical "Click" keyboards...
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>keyboard, others (more info?)

Hello,

I am looking for a quality mechanical click keyboard. I was happy
with the NMB RT-8200CW I was using, but I got a little overzelous
with the "shift" key (oops!). So now I pulled out an IBM Model M
keyboard that I had tucked away in the closet. I know a lot of people
think this is the best keyboard on the planet, but for me it feels a
bit clunky, and the noise is a bit excessive. I would like to replace
the IBM with another RT-8200, but I cannot find a place to purchase
it. I have done some searching, and noticed that a lot people like
the SiiG Supertouch keyboard (Part#: JK-ALW013), and it is readily
available for purchase. From the few low resolution photos, this
keyboard looks identical to my NMB, it has a giant L-shaped enter key
with a small backspace key. Is there a difference between the two
keyboards, or is one just a rebadged version of the other?

Can anyone recommend another keyboard I haven't considered. My only
small complaint about the two aforementioned keyboards is the
non-standard backspace key. I guess there are two accepted key
layouts, one with the L shaped enter key, and an ordinary enter key.
But I believe both of these layouts should still have an oversized
backspace key, whereas the NMB and SiiG have a normal sized backspace
key. Are there any keyboards that have nice tactile feel with a more
standard layout?

Thanks,
-austin
