I have a Canon A630.

All of a sudden, I couldn't take any pictures -- got a memory card error (CE
card).

At the same time, the batteries died so I suspect that might be the culprit.
Replaced the batteries, but still got memory card error.

Replaced the card and it works fine.

Any ideas/ways of retrieving the pictures from the card?

Mel

Above is a good suggestion, but there are file recovery programs, I the
pictures a really important, you may have a chance.

This one is the most recommended software.
http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/

Other choices found on Google.
http://www.mediarecover.com/

http://www.recoverdata.co.in/recover-data/digital-camera-data-recovery...ftware.

Search Google for file "recovery software digital cameras" without the
quotes.
