Hi all,
How long do people leave memtest running for to get a good indication of stability? Are we talking minutes or hours?

Hi,

using the standard test I leave it for 10-20 passes, and using the full test
I leave it for 24hours. . .

I would let it run the complete test cycle atleast 5 times. Most errors
will show up on the first but not all.

Best bet is to leave it running when you go to bed, if when you wake up
theres no errors you can be as certain (as you can be without a hardware
tester) there no problem with the RAM side of your system.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thanks all, I've just started using memtest and wasn't sure about appropriate testign methods but I'm starting to understand the
interface a bit more. I did let it run overnight recently using the extended test and got a single error which I think I can live
with. @258 FSB everything I had previously used to test system stability (Prime95, multiple runs of 3DMark, Sandra's piss weak burn
in test) would all get the job done no sweat. But my only source of annoyance was Desert Combat was randomly dropping back to
desktop very occassionally, initially i mistakenly thought it was because of new video drivers. Using Memtest I've had to drop back
to 255 FSB but able to run tighter RAM timimgs. DC has been solid since. I like the idea of testing from a bootable floppy as
opposed to trying to crash ya comp from within windows.
