I have installed a new ECS L4VXAG board to day with a Celeron 2.4GHz (which
incidentally is overclocking @ 3.2GHz beautifully). However, although
everything seems fine and the system is functioning as expected, the onboard
speaker is not beeping at POST. Any ideas why this might be? Possibly a
defective speaker?

TIA

I don't know about this motherboard in particular but I've seen some
motherboards that have a jumper to select between using the onboard speaker
or using a speaker connected to the case.
Perhaps there is such a jumper on this system and it set to use an external
speaker (which you do not have connected?)

Just an thought,

Got the connector the correct way around? All connectors except the speaker
one I think work ok the wrong way around. Also make sure you have it on the
correct pins. The little V on the connector next to the hole corresponds
with positive. Refer to the motherboard manual for connector orientation...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thanks for the replies, but this is an onboard speaker. There is no
connecting required.

Isn't the speaker in the case, not on the motherboard?? As such you do need
to connect the cables into the motherboard. If it is on the motherboard you
could try connecting a meter accross it.

This motherboard has one of those little onboard buzzer type speakers. There
is no header on the board for an external speaker as it has this onboard
one. I have also read through the entire manual and there is no diagram or
mention of this speaker. It doesn't even mention beeps. Nothing! Any ideas?

Where is the speaker on the board, are you sure you are not mistaking it for
something else? Does your case have a built in speaker? Normally the header
for it is located with the power connectors on the M/Board

There is no header on the board for an external speaker. This board ONLY has
an onboard speaker.
