NEC DVD +RW not opening door

I have a Dell with the above CD burner and it would not respond after
putting a CD in to burn. After I used the emergency eject hole to open it,
I removed the cd but the door had to be manually pushed back in. Still
after restarting computer, the drive does not open when the button is pushed
(only the light comes on, does not blink, then goes off). If I use the
emergency eject hole to open it, put in a cd, press the button, the door
closes very slowly then opens back up slowly. Do I need a new burner ?
