Hello,
This MOBO has 3 FAN headers.
The CPU fan is connected to the MOBO and is working fine, its speed is
reported correctly by the Abit utility.
My problem is that I have no idea of what I should connect to the header
labelled CHAFAN, supposed to be chassis Fan, and to the PWRFAN, supposed to
be the power fan.
Abit manual says that the chassis FAN should be connected in order to
prevent the internal temperature from getting too high, but I don't know
what I should connect to this header.
There is fan on the front of the case, but apparently its speed is not
reported by the ABIT utility.
And about the power fan, I have no idea how to use it, my power supply does
not have a connector that fits into the header of the MOBO.
Any clarification will be appreciated >> Stay informed about: Question on Abit NF7-S |

Forget about hooking up the PSU fan header. Your PSU does not support that
feature. If you had an additional case fan with a three wire connector, you
could hook it to the PSUfan header.
How many wires does your case fan have? If it's a three wire connector,
then hook it to the CHAfan header and then you can monitor the RPMs. If
it's a two wire then just make sure it's connected to a PSU output connector
and that's about it, no rpm monitor for that.

Thanks,
The only place where I can plug the front case fan connector is one of those
cables coming directly from the power supply, so ...
Just to make sure, the ABIT EQ utility reports CPU temp 47 C, case I don't
remember.
This is after one or two hours of "low" use, no gaming, no benchmark.
Does it sound OK, or should I think adding another fan somewhere in the case
?
For the moment, I have the minimum number of fan (CPU, Nvidia bridge, power
supply, front panel case), and I read many post where people are adding
extra fan inside the case.
Thanks for your opinion,
Luc

Because I don't have an NF7-S I will have to differ to some other poster's
response regarding your temp of 47c. I have an Epox 8RDA+ nforce2 board and
my cpu idles in the 40c range with an overclocked 2100+ (I also have only
one case fan). Different boards will read these temps differently so 47c
may be in the proper range. I think one case fan in front blowing in is a
good arrangement for normal usage . Just make sure the case fan is not
obstructed, like small holes to suck through or the case inlet blocked by
carpet on the floor.
