What is the highest CPU I can use with this board please? Currently I
am using XP2500+ Barton. Can I improve much over this please?

Hi Wizzard -

Athlon XP 3200+ Barton is the fastest processor the board can take.

Alternatively, you can pick up a Mobile 2500+ and overclock, usually
achieving 3200+ performance.

Either processor is likely to be difficult to find.

Since the 2500+ and the 3200+ share the same multiplier even if locked, I'd
just add some PC3200 or better RAM and set the FSB for 200 MHz for 3200+
speeds (2.2 GHz). Might have to bump up the Vcore a bit and watch the
heat, but it's just about guaranteed. (2400+ here at 2.5 GHz on air).

I had a mobile 2600+ at 2.5 GHZ. Probably couldve got 2.6 with better
cooling. I used it for almost 2 years and then sold it ebay for more
than I paid for it. Got ~$100 for it. I'd say your best bet is bumping
up the FSB, like others have said.

Same as over clocking my Barton 2500+ to 3200+? I know the Abit board
does it but have not tried it so far.

Yup. As Pete says: the 2500+ and 3200+ share the same multiplier. Usually
you can get 'em all the way to a 200MHz FSB with adequate cooling and PC3200
or better RAM. And, also as Pete says, you may have to bump up your Vcore a
tad to maintain stability.

Baby steps overclocking .. ease the FSB a little at a time, watching your
voltages and temps.
